Armoran City Fighters
"Took six days, fifteen firefights, two casualties, and over 100km on foot, and we didn't touch the ground once." - Sergeant Achilus, 4th Armoran City Fighters
Summary: The Armoran City Fighters are specialist urban infantry intended to perform with extreme capability in urban operations. They form the elite infantry elements of Armoran battlegroups, utilizing superior training and equipment to augment the forces of the Armoran Line Infantry and Hephaestus Hammerguard, with whom they share a 'friendly' rivalry. The City Fighters utilize their grapnels and line ascenders to travel great distances of urban landscape without touching the ground level of the city by zip-lining between buildings. This improved maneuver capability allows them to assault enemy structures from undefended entry-points, such as the roof or mid-level openings and breaches. Regimental History: The City Fighters were formed after the Armoran Crisis that occured over a decade ago, during which untold millions of Armorans were slaughtered by the ruinous forces of the Vampire Lord known as Lucci. After the Crisis was resolved with an Imperial victory, the new Planetary Governor created a special unit of the Armoran PDF that would eventually become the Armoran City Fighters and be utilized by the Imperial Guard for urban operations across the Sub-Sector. This unit received elite urban operations training and the best equipment Armora V could afford. Homeworld: Armora V is a Hive World of extreme proportions. The massive hives have long since been built into one another, and the city spans from bedrock to the very top of the troposphere. The lower hives of Armora V are rife with gangers and other scum, and are often used as training for the City Fighters, clearing out ancient hab blocks infested with gangers and beasts. Recruitment: The City Fighters are drawn from the very best recruits of the Line Infantry and the Armoran PDF, as well as recommendations from the many private military organizations on Armora V. The Armoran City Fighters have superior pay, housing, and training to standard Guardsmen, and are expected to perform to an equally superior standard. Their training weeds out countless recruits incapable of handling the rigors of City Fighter combat doctrine. The final step of the in-processing of the City Fighters involves installing exoskeleton augmentation to enhance the mobility and lethality of each City Fighter. Regimental Organization: The City Fighters fall under the command of the General of the Armoran System, General Rockatansky, alongside the other Armoran regiments. The two-thousand man regiments themselves are led by a Colonel and divided into six separate three-hundred man infantry battalions and one two-hundred man support battalion each led by Majors. The battalions are further divided into four separate seventy-five man companies led by Captains, with four infantry companies and one support company. Each infantry company is comprised of four twenty-man maneuver platoons and one fifteen-man headquarters platoon, with each maneuver platoon led by a Lieutenant and the HQ platoon led by the Captain and managed by an assistant Lieutenant. The platoons are divided into four five-man squads led by Sergeants. Wargear: Individual Equipment
