Norwesian Armored Cavalry
Summary: The Norwesian Armored Cavalry make up the forefront of light armor engagements in the Scandivus Sub-Sector, providing hasty armored support to infantry regiments while also fulfilling the much needed anti-armor role with surprising effectiveness.
Regimental History: The Armored Cavalry was once known as the Centaur Support Regiment, who utilized Centaurs to tow damaged armored vehicles from regiments from Swedesia or Germanis. They were oft-mocked and ridiculed for their support role in the Scandivus battlegroups. For a long time, Norwesia was the proud assembler of Centaurs, providing towing support and whatever mechanized work was needed. This changed when the Germanis system saw widespread insurrection and Imperial forces in Subsector Scandavius found themselves short of armor. Norwesia decided to take initative in their own way and modify the Centaurs they assembled to carry locally-manufactured Conqueror Battle Cannons. From this necessity, the Hippocentaur was born. By foregoing the ability to carry troops and adding a turret, the Norwesia regiments found themselves a passable tank substitute. The initial Hippocentaurs fared poorly on the battlefield as the first shipment suffered from technical issues and Norwesian drivers had no fucking clue how to drive a tank, but subsequent engagements demonstrated that, with some proper assembly, the Hippocentaur can be an effective unit on the battlefield. Even when the insurrection in Germanis was resolved and normal tank units returned to the field, Norwesia continued to produce and field Hippocentaurs. They proved instrumental in resisting the Tyranid incursion during the Norwesian War. The battlefield was proliferated with the perforated corpses of slain Tyranids covered in tread tracks. Homeworld: Norwesia, an Imperial World that suffered an invasion by the Tyranids, and still survives to tell the tale. Recruitment: The Norwesian Armored Cavalry are all-volunteer regiments, comprised of patriotic and bored Norwesians who desire to pilot the famed Hippocentaur which is overly credited to the Imperial victory in the Norwesian War through Norwesian propaganda. Such propaganda depicts Hippocentaurs ramping off of wrecked Leman Russ Battle Tanks and shooting Hive Tyrants in the face. Regimental Organisation: The Armored Cavalry fall under the command of the General of the Swedesian System, General Dayne, alongside the regiments of Finda and Swedesia. The eight-thousand man regiments themselves are led by a Colonel and divided into eight separate one-thousand man battalions led by Majors. The battalions are further divided into eight separate one-hundred and twenty five man companies led by Captains, with seven tank companies and one support company. Each tank company is comprised of three thirty-two man maneuver platoons and one twenty-nine man headquarters platoon, with each maneuver platoon led by a Lieutenant and the HQ platoon led by the Captain and managed by an assistant Lieutenant. The platoons are divided into two sections led by Sergeants, which have two tanks each. Wargear: Individual Equipment
